This is me, Peter Ryley, creator of the Rainring Cards, taken at the University of Sussex by one of my EFL students, as part of our class blog. (I had a haircut a couple of days later!)
News Update: September 2011
Two actual achievements of the relatively recent past are the following -
1) My daughter has shot and edited the first two Rainring videos
2) We have just – this week – received the first of the new 6-page laminated directories of meanings. The original 4-page (web) version has also been extensively revised with input from my partner Hacina.
There is more in the pipeline

Rainring: complicated?
Yes and no. If you expect to be able to grasp the whole thing in an hour or two, you will be disappointed, for sure. If, however, you are afraid that Rainring is too obscure and complex even to repond to the investing of a little patient effort, then your fears are groundless.
In this age of universal dumbing down, Rainring undoubtedly does not fit into the category: instantly accessible. However, any reasonably intelligent and motivated person can learn how to use the cards without great difficulty. You will find simple instructions on how to play with the cards online here
Also, I continue sporadically to add further segments to the Tales from Rainring on this site, for which click here
