Masterclass series

This series of studies constitutes an introduction to the major practical issues faced by a new reader of the cards. It is intended to act as a bridge enabling those people entirely unfamiliar with Rainring to cross the river of confusion and reach the further bank, where they can find their way around the cards with at least a working minimum of competence.

Little did I suppose, when I began this Masterclass series back in the autumn of 2007, that it would take me until June 2010 to complete. In self-defence, all I can say is that there is more of it than I originally envisaged, and that I have also written the web directory in the meantime. Even so…! Like any other project so long in the fulfilling, it has undergone some changes en route. Once I decided to include the 4-mention cards, it inevitably became more detailed and more comprehensive than originally envisaged - at the time when I was concerned only to produce a guide for users of the web version. It is now a hybrid but, I hope, none the worse for it. I am by no means sure, with the mentality of the contemporary world, that it is always a good thing to offer people something for nothing. So I would like to end what has become a considerable labour of love, and a very time-consuming endeavour, with a word of caution. I do NOT guarantee to maintain this series indefinitely available without charge. If I do so now, it is as a particular encouragement to early pioneers with the cards, not out of a conviction that my labours deserve, indefinitely, to receive no financial reward.
